Betty Cooper is another history maker in the Miss America story! Her disappearance for 24 hours after winning the title was quite unexpected. Due to being overwhelmed by the expectations of pageant officials, she preferred a lighter schedule of appearances than her predecessors. This prompted the practice of titleholders signing agreements of expectations.

Be sure to enjoy Miss America's talent choice from 1937 as performed by Roy Smeck.
